Planck Surveyor
A mission selected in 1996 as part of the European Space Agency's programme. Its purpose is to image anisotropies in the cosmic background radiation over the whole sky with unprecedented sensitivity and resolution. The mission was formerly known as COBRAS/SAMBA, a merger of two proposals. The acronyms stood for Cosmic Background Radiation Anisotropy Satellite and Satellite for Measurement of Background Anisotropies.
